Does TQI Owe You Money?

Did you hold teacher registration in the ACT in the period January 2019 to April 2024?

During a legislative review in late 2024, it was identified that the registration fee for teachers and permit to teach holders had incorrectly been applied, exceeding the legislated fee by $5 per year, impacting renewals and registrations processed during the period 1 January 2019 until 22 April 2024.  Teachers who held registration during this time are now due a refund. The refunds vary between $5 and $30 depending on the number of years the teacher was registered during that period.

The majority of the teachers affected by this overcharge had their refunds applied to their registration renewal fee earlier in 2025. However, we are now running a number of campaigns to contact other people affected and to encourage them to apply for the refund available. These campaigns include direct email, direct SMS as well as social media.

If you know anyone who might have been impacted by this issue, please refer them to this page or ask them to contact us.
