What Is ARTIPL?
ARTIPL is an initiative that allows selected Teacher Identified Professional Learning (TIPL) activities to be automatically recognised and counted towards registration requirements. These activities have been identified as demonstrating significant intellectual quality and alignment with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
The result? Less paperwork, fewer administrative burdens, and more recognition for the professional learning you're already undertaking.
Professional Activities That Can Be Automatically Recognised
A range of common professional activities may now contribute directly to your professional learning record, including:
- Formal Academic Study
- Formal Action Research
- Early Career Teacher learning and development activities
- Supervising a pre-service teacher
- Completion of the Disability Standards e-learning module
- Developing and facilitating professional learning within your workplace
- Coaching and mentoring
- Leading professional committees
- Specific student case management
- Curriculum development and writing activities
These are activities that many teachers already undertake as part of their professional practice. ARTIPL ensures they receive the recognition they deserve.
Meeting Your 20 Hours May Be Easier Than You Think
Remember, teachers are required to complete:
- 20 hours of professional learning each calendar year
- At least 5 hours from accredited programs
- At least 5 hours from TIPL activities
- The remaining hours can be a combination of accredited programs and TIPL activities
TIPL can include a wide variety of learning experiences, from action research and online learning through to professional collaboration, podcasts, professional associations, educational social media engagement, and other non-accredited learning opportunities.

During your annual professional conversation, your school's verification delegate can review evidence of your reflective practice and identify applicable ARTIPL activities through the TQI Portal. Once selected, these activities are automatically added to your professional learning profile, with no additional written reflections required.
