The University of Canberra’s (UC) Initial Teacher Education (ITE) undergraduate programs (Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary) are currently undergoing Stage One national accreditation. This is a big moment, and it’s happening right here in the ACT!

The Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) has convened expert panels of educators from across the country to assess UC’s submission. These panels bring deep professional insight, applying national evidence requirements with care and rigour, guided by the Accreditation Guidelines.

UC’s response to the STRONG BEGINNINGS Report regarding Core Content in ITE programs is also being assessed, paving the way for implementation in 2026. This content is focused on ensuring future teachers are classroom-ready and equipped to make a real impact.

The support teachers and school leaders provide to preservice teachers is a crucial part of their development and growth into the profession.
